It was a howling northwest breeze yesterday. A very stiff northwest breeze. Whitecaps out over the lake, particularly on the north side of Deering Island, you could just see it was blowing good. I would imagine out in the open lake, the lower lake side, 3 maybe 4 footers as far as waves go, which is significant for an inland lake.

She was a windy one today too, although not quite what it was yesterday, and tomorrow, the wind is supposed to be light and variable. Perfect boating weather, and I am going.

Took some pictures from the end of the dock yesterday, meant to put them in a post last night, but I forgot. So here they are.

Aside from this windy weather of the last two days, I have some other news, good news! Less stress news! I accepted a position with another company today! It’s closer to home and much more laid back. All the overtime is voluntary, they never make it mandatory! So today at 4:45 PM, I submitted my two week notice to my current slave owner company, told them I will not work any overtime during my last two weeks (which I made sure started today).

Here’s what I wrote, obviously some things have been edited out like names, my employee number, etc… but here is the guts of it:

This is to inform you of my intent to leave Entegris. Pretty sure you know the reasons why. The hours and the never ending demand for mandatory overtime with no end in sight, I’ve had enough.

I accepted another position today, so my last day is going to be Wednesday September 22, 2021. It also should be noted that I will not work on Friday September 17, 2021. I’m all done with the overtime.

from my two week notice

There you have it! The burden has been lifted and I feel so much better! I guess, relieved best describes it.

Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty I am free at last!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the best part of this new company deals with the covid bullshit. I was told today they do not and will not require “proof of vaccination,” nor do they or will they ever implement a mask wearing policy! The words to me were, “It’s your choice. We aren’t going to force or mandate anything as a condition for employment.”

Fantastic! Hard as it is to believe, especially here in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 too many liberals, there are people and companies that “get it.” My new employers… they get it.

Today was a good day. A very good day!
